Why is CBD chosen more over than THC?


Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are two naturally occurring and prevalent cannabinoids in Cannabis Sativa plant (cannabis). For quick differentiation, it is stated that CBD doesn’t get you high, but THC does.

CB1 and CB2 are two cannabinoids receptors. CB1 receptors are located in regions of the brain and affect physiological and mental processes like emotions, high cognition, memory, and motor coordination.

However, CB2 receptors are located throughout the immune system and nervous system. THC and CBD interact with these two receptors differently. That’s where the difference begins.

Difference between THC & CBD


CBD and THC both interact with CB2 receptors in the same manner but differently with the CB1 receptors. THC can bind with CP1 receptors because of its molecular structure, and after forming the bond, signals are sent to the brain as a reaction resulting in psychoactive upshots of “getting high”.

While CBD doesn’t tie with CB1 receptors and the bond between THC and CP1 receptors can be negated with CBD presence. Which means psychoactive effects stimulated by THC can be neutralized with CBD.

Besides the fantastic health benefits of THC, not everybody likes its mind-altering effects, and for this reason, most countries have placed THC in the category of illegal substances. Comparatively, CBD use is much safer from a legal point of view.
